Since you asked this question i'd assume that you don't have the knowledge to fix it your self, and i'd recommend that you don't try to use it any more, because it might get short circuited and you already mentiond that it made weird sounds, so yea i guess you should just get a new one, it's better than damaging your laptop trying to use the old one.
