| New Fantastic Features in Picassa 3.8 Posted: 26 Oct 2010 10:45 AM PDT ![]() Picasa is an image organizer and image viewer for organizing and editing digital photos, plus an integrated photo-sharing website, since 2004, and along with the technological developments, the development team behind Picasa, the image organizer and image viewer for organizing and editing digital photos, has recently announced that the application reached another milestone in its development process. The updated version of Picasa imaging software which brings quite a few goodies like: • Face movie feature • Picnik integration • Batch upload to Picasa Web Albums • Properties panel • Metadata updates • Under the hood Face Movie Face Movie is a new Picasa tool that does pretty much what it says and that's to 'create' a movie from images available, using as common ground a person's face. Here what you need to do is to select several photos of a particular person from your library, choose a transition style, slide duration, and video dimension. The interesting thing is that Face Movie keeps that person's face stationary throughout the movie. ![]() Picnik integration Picasa 3.8 also brings in the functionality of Picnik, a well-known online photo editing tool which is integrated into Picasa Web Albums few weeks before. Apply Picnik magic to your photo by selecting Edit in Picnik from the Basic Effects tab. Picnik is an easy and powerful photo-editor that allows you to edit photos easily, share them and save them back to Picasa Web Albums, right in your browser. ![]() Batch Upload Batch upload from Picasa to Picasa Web Albums is one feature that was asked for so many times and with the updated version 3.8, the users' requests have been fulfilled. Through this application, users can now upload multiple photos and multiple albums at once from Picasa 3.8 to Picasa Web Albums. Furthermore users can remove albums from Picasa Web, change the upload size, visibility and sync state of photos that are already online. ![]() Properties panel Properties panel is also another application of updated picassa version through which picassa now supports XMP along with EXIF data. Image data is now available in the Properties panel along with places and tags. Through this application, u can use the information to see exactly which camera settings were used when photo was taken. You can find people, places and tags in this space as well. ![]() Metadata updates Through this application, Picasa will now read the metadata from your photo and present the photo in the correct color space, thus will improve the way your photo displays on your monitor or TV screen. So for those of us who enjoy the technical side of photography, we have some nice metadata (information stored inside of your image file) updates too, including support of Color Management. ![]() Under the hood Under the hood feature has also been added in picassa, a few other under-the-hood updates such as improved support of external drives, increased efficiency of CPU usage, and improved settings when sharing with your Gmail contact groups. |
