[computer-tech-support: 8002] Re: knowledge

The ONLY time ipconfig /all will have the correct ip address is when
it is connected
directly to the internet (ie through a DSL modem) with no intervening
router.
All other times it will not be the internet ip but will be a private
address such
as 192.168.1.100, 10.0.10.100, 172.16.1.100 and etc as defined in RFC
1918.
The private ip address ranges reserved by IANA are:
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)
