Get Notified to Update Software with Secunia Personal Software Inspector Posted: 02 Jan 2011 04:30 AM PST It happens most of the times that we forget to update the tool or any software after using it for a long time. Either we don't get notified to update the software or we don't usually do it, as a result of which what happens is that the tool gets prone to attack by hackers. The Secunia PSI is a free security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Attacks exploiting vulnerable programs and plug-ins are rarely blocked by traditional anti-virus and are therefore increasingly “popular” among criminals. The only solution to block these kinds of attacks is to apply security updates, commonly referred to as patches. Patches are offered free-of-charge by most software vendors; however, finding all these patches is a tedious and time consuming task. Secunia PSI automates this and alerts you when your programs and plug-ins require updating to stay secure. It would be easier for us to update all the tools for which we get notified thereby reducing the risks of infection and attack by hackers. The tool is definitely worth a try. TS thanks one of our regular readers Rob White, for suggesting this product. Related posts: |
