First, what manufacturer?
2. What OS - XP, Vista, Win7, Linux, etc?
3. You did not say where you found the BD-ROM. You make it soun that it is right beside your CD/DVD-ROM drive in the laptop case
You gave no useful information with which anyone can help you unless making wild guesses and I do not believe you want gueses (or at least not rational intelligent ones). And as a wild guess, it is highly unlikely that a virus would masquerade as a DB-ROM drive.
