[computer-tech-support: 8213] monitor stuck in power save mode

I have a ECS Nforce motherboard with a AMD 64 Bit processor. I
recently installed a radeon x800 xt256 gb grafics card (given to me)
and the monitor reads "monitor in power save mode use pc to activate".
How do I activate the monitor if I can't see the screen?
So I replaced the old card (thinking the new one was damaged) and I
have the same issue.
