  8. Gaming History: Command & Conquer - 2011-04-21 13:00:02-04
Did you know the Real Time Strategy game truly began with Dune 2? I had no idea. But that’s the truth. And there is a whole lot of other crazy stuff in this amazing video history of the Command & Conquer video game series. I spent hours playing the first C&C in 1995 and it set the standard, along with Warcraft 2, for the RTS game. Now, over 15 years later, there ave been eleven games and eight expansion packs in the C&C world, plus the title launched some of the best memes on the internet. For instance, C&C is known for owning the “Longest Running Actor in Video Game Role” world record with Joe Kucan, who has played the part of Kane, the master C&C villain. All in all, C&C has sold over 30 million tittles, no small feat for any game, making it the best selling RTS of all time. This game deserves to go down in history, and is a true testament to how much the gaming world have changed in 15 years. Check out this multi-part series on the history of C&C for all the Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five
  9. The iBook iPad case - 2011-04-22 02:38:34-04
Now this title may appear to be something of a contradiction in terms, but really, this mod is a cool idea from Gary Katz, he has taken the all of the insides out of the iBook and then made into the coolest iPad case around! Naturally, he made sure that the inside of the machine was lined with a suitably soft material so the iPad was not scratched to death on all of those hard and sharp edges. It has to be said, that if I wanted an iPad case, this would be it! Source [Technabob]

X- Men: First Class is directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. Source [Geeks Are Sexy]
  11. How to make sure that your hard drive is unreadable - 2011-04-22 04:00:20-04
Disposing of a computer may seem like an easy thing to do, but is it, do you know what happens to it once it leaves your possession? Well the data stored on your hard drive could come in handy to identity thieves, who can scan the drive and get all sorts of data including financials, usernames and passwords! There is only one sure way of ensuring that your hard drive does not fall into the hands of these people and that is to destroy it using a machine such as this IDEAL 0101 HDP from Duplo, it pieces the hard drive with steel prongs, it is possible that some the data could be read. This is not the best and most secure of data protection, but it certainly looks good while it is working. Priced at $3,000 Source [Oh Gizmo]

  14. Hector the insect type robot - 2011-04-22 07:00:16-04
Robots are becoming more interesting, technical and intelligent, which is good and bad! Its great because they are able to do those jobs that we humans cannot do as well, but this is bad because of the effect that robots have on humans and we are not talking about “Death to all Humans” either. This HECTOR (HExapod Cognitive auTonmously Operating Robot) it has been designed by the University of Bielefeld's Department of Biological Cybernetics and its mission would be to do jobs in tight, dirty and hot places. However, all I have to say about it is, has nobody seen “Runaway” or “Stargate SG1″ as Hector seems to been in both! The thin-walled body shell made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic was developed and optimized in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden. Even with a 30 kg load, the deformation is less than 1 mm. This new three-segment body shell makes up only approximately 13% of the total weight of this 1-metre long robot weighing 12 kg. 19. Gaming History: The Best Early 80′s Video Game Systems - 2011-04-22 13:00:52-04
Here’s a look at what it was like for us gamers in the 80′s! It wasn’t easy. Graphics were blocky, Mario was moonlighting over at Coleco. The NES actually came with a Robot. There was a lot of cocaine back then… things were weird. Atari 2600 In this amazing video from the 1980′s you get, 1) The best product rap ever, 2) A special $50 price, 3) A dad that looks a lot like john C. Riley. O had a 2600. It was my first gaming system. I still have it in fact. Man, Pitfall was pretty lame game in hindsight. Intellivision Intellivision was the “Intelligent Video Syste.” But it was really a great video game system that swept the market before Nintendo could take over. It had a great lineup of games, and that’s probably what made it last as long as it did on the market. It was actually produced by Mattel. Vectrex The selling point for the Vectrex was that you didn’t need a TV so “real gaming was built right in. But that’s just crap because all you got was a tiny screen with some vector drawings. However, this mid-80′s system had to make my list … Continue reading
  20. Portable USB Solar Panel Charger/Battery Pack Review! - 2011-04-22 15:35:33-04
I’ve been meaning to get a USB solar charger/battery pack but luckily, MiniInTheBox.com sent me one for a review couple weeks back.  Anyways, this thing is pretty awesome, it basically re-charges itself when there’s even any hint of light. How powerful is it? It’s rated at 2600mAh, meaning you can probably re-charge your iPhone/Android smartphone/Blackberry twice fully. Besides that, it also comes with an AC adapter so you can always use it as a battery pack too.  I mean, there’s gotta be times where you might need that too.  Having both options is great and best of all, at price of only $15.19! (There’s others on the market but you need to look at the battery specs, at 2600mAh, this one beats many others hands down for the price you pay.) You can get this at MiniInTheBox.com. Oh yeah, I am giving this one out, all you gotta to is leave an interesting and creative response on why you need it, you can leave your comments below or at YouTube. The mini USB and USB port makes it easy to use it with any gadgets you need to charge on the go. The USB portable solar charger charging my G2 … Continue reading
