Download Portable setup of your Software Posted: 07 May 2011 05:30 AM PDT If you travel a lot and are required to work from shared systems too, then you must have experienced how difficult it is to install any software required by you because of the restrictions. There are occasions when I require my favourite image editor like GIMP in my office PC but due to installation restrictions, I can't install any tool there. Therefore I have downloaded the portable version of the tool GIMP called the Portable GIMP, which I can install in my USB drive and run it from there only. With the help of these portable applications, I can use my any software on any USB enabled system and even on the go. How to use Portable Apps/Software Using portable forms of the software is very easy. While some of the tools do not require any installation, some need installation in the removable drive which can be used in any USB enabled system. What you need to do is just download the portable setup file, install it in the USB drive and use it anywhere. Note: When you’re done, exit the tool and then wait for the activity light on your removable drive to stop flashing. Then select the ‘Safely remove device’ option from the icon in the system tray. If you remove the drive while it is writing, you may lose data. Related posts: |
