  1. DIY Android/Arduino-Controlled Labyrinth/Maze! - 2011-06-10 07:20:02-04

We are gonna be seeing a slew of great Android-controlled Arduino applications, these things are about to explode soon and here’s another great application showing control of a physical labyrinth/maze with a Nexus One Android smartphone: Inspired by the ball maze at Google I/O 2011, I decided to go and raid my parents’ house for the ball maze I grew up with. When I found it the challenge was set: I had one night to develop the hardware and software to control the maze using my Google Nexus One, using only what I could find in my (sadly very small and limited) workshop. I started at about 7pm and by 5am the next morning it was complete. I might add that this is my very FIRST Android project aside from Hello Android, and I can’t even claim to have written very much at that. It was a duct-taped together mashup of Demokit (provided by Google), and various accelerometer demo code samples provided around the web. Sorry about the fluorescent lighting reflecting off the screen of my phone, hopefully you can see everything. Completely unrelated to my day job as database and software technician, but I’m hoping to build bridges between … Continue reading

  2. Garden DIY – How to Make a Raised Bed Garden! - 2011-06-10 16:31:58-04

For those of you looking for ways to help your older parents manage their garden better without hurting their backs, you might want to think about building them a “raised” bed garden”.  I think this is also a great idea for keeping your lawn intact while adding a bed garden to your yard. I first got this idea from a older couple i know. I just wanted it bigger. My ground has allot of clay in it so i built up my first garden about 10 inches off the ground. My parents are getting older so i thought i would make them a smaller one so they wouldn’t have to bend over allot . It sure is nice for weeding not having to bend over. Also you don’t have to worry about getting allot of rain at once because it will drain out the bottom rather than flooding your plants. via instructables This post Garden DIY – How to Make a Raised Bed Garden! was originally from zedomax.com DIY, Featured, Featured DIYs, Featured Hacks, garden diy, Gardening, Hack, how-to, HOWTO, make, Projects, raised bed garden

  5. Over 400,000 ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Tablets Shipped! - 2011-06-14 10:59:35-04

If you want to rank the most popular 10.1″ tablet sold today, you could probably go by number of tablets shipped in the last couple months. The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet has been literally flying off the shelves of every retailer throughout the world and I personally had to pre-order one just hoping to get my hands on one. Where can you get your hands on one right now? B&H – $399 Amazon – $449 ASUS has had a hard time meeting demand for its Eee Pad Transformer since the device’s launch earlier this year, but we clearly don’t have component shortages to blame. Jerry Shen, the Taiwanese company’s CEO, says that he expects to sell 300,000 of the tablets this month, following shipments totaling 400,000 in April and May. That figure puts the device in the number two spot for worldwide tablet shipments, just behind the prevailing iPad 2. via engadget This post Over 400,000 ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Tablets Shipped! was originally from zedomax.com Android Tablet, asus, Eee Pad, Eee Pad Transformer, tablets, Tablets, transformer

  7. Logitech 1080P HD C910 Webcam Review! - 2011-06-14 12:13:47-04

Are you looking for a new webcam that can perhaps take full 1080P videos, talk to your friends on Skype in 720P HD, or perhaps just for adding some HD security camera? Well, I just received the Logitech 1080P HD C910 webcam (for mainly taking videos of myself for my YouTube channel) but it’s a pretty good HD webcam if not the best one you can get right now for the money spent, under $100. The Logitech C910 is a great little HD cam, comes with dual, noise-cancelling microphones that works very well and easily sits on top of any LCD monitor, laptops, or even just on the desk. I’ve also been using it as a security camera when I am not home and the resolution is great without spending a ton on real security webcams. (Btw, you can use a free software called iSpy to setup a security webcam system and also Android app called Tiny Cam to see your webcams on the go.) Here’s a short video demo I took for you to see on YouTube, uploaded without rendering at full 1080P: Get it on Amazon for $75.36. Features: Full HD 1080p video recording and smooth HD 720p … Continue reading

  8. DIY Doggy Style Persistence of Vision! - 2011-06-14 15:59:43-04

POV or Persistence of Vision where you use flashing LED lights to display letters in motion, has always been a fun way to learn about LEDs and circuits.   You might remember I invented the world’s first Golf club POV, which was capable of showing letters/images while you swing the golf club. Well, there’s a DIY Doggy Style (literally doggy dog) POV someone has managed to put together with his furry little helper helping him in pitch darkness. Mounting 5 LEDs on a moving object creates one of the cheapest and largest displays: Persistence of Vision. It's been done on bicycle wheels, fans and other rotating objects. In this project i am sewing a Lilypad wearable Arduino board and five LEDs with conductive thread on my dog's shirt. She (Ianto) is a Miniature Pinscher running very fast for fun. In curves fast enough for Persitence of Vision. And she likes running in large circles in the park! 9. Future of Airplanes! [VIDEO] - 2011-06-14 19:29:39-04

Do you ever wonder one day being able to play virtual simulation golf with your buddies in mid-flight to Asia somewhere? Well, here’s a proof of concept on future of airplanes that shows you exactly that.  I do have doubts though, the way airline industry being run currently, there’s no way economy class is going to get any better than it is right now, airline industry makes way too much more money by putting passengers in overly-cramped seats for the next 100 years.  And talk about how it’s not really improved over the last 50 years.   But for those of you willing to pay a bit more for business/first class, this could be a possibility for sure.
