[computer-tech-support: 8265] HP-Mini Netbook HINTS and HELP?

Recently purchased an HP-Mini Netbook / Intel® Atom™ Processor / 10.1"
Display / 1GB Memory / 250GB Hard Drive - Model Number: 210-1070NR
running Windows 7 and although I'm happy with the unit I was hoping
there would be a few things I could do to kick it into a higher gear.
For example the HP Network Assistant cr@p keeps firing up and running
some analysis at odd times. The boot up is rather slow. It came with
a temp copy of Symantec but it expired so I loaded on AGV.

Just curious what I could do to kick this up a notch. Any pre-
installed app's I should wipe? Anything in any system settings that
would help? Would upgrading RAM to 2GB help the speed (or is that
only help for running big taxing app's?)?

Only use this for internet/email, web browsing, and some basic picture
editing as I bought this to take with us to work on digital pictures
when we're on vacation or get to email on the road.

Any hints or help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have Netflix and I know there is a secondary monitor output on
this. Most new TV's can accept this input but I assume this will not
output sound (the netbook speakers blow). How would it be best to
hook this up to a TV (no HDMI or S-vid out)?

Thanks!!!
