is getting a cylinder or head messed up, to make sure it is what I
assume, simply replace the drive, and dont worry about the ntldr, when
you start the computer, do you hear the noise, or is only after few
minutes of heavy work....
I dont think the speaker of the mobo will be ascending, the computer
doesnt freeze from the mobo, but will turn the cpu off, so a blanking
screen will result, and in some mobo, a blue screen with the
statement,,,,heat issue, or over heating.
the freezing symptoms are of a hard disc or software problem, and
since the sound is a hardware matter, then the problem is of a
hardware origin, the light of the HDD keeps alive, could indicate a
hanged head of the harddrive stuck on the cylinder somewhere...
replace the drive, best to know, by reinstalling the old 40GB...and
install windows or repair, make the usual work and intense you usually
do with your computer, so you make sure it is gone for good.
