Posted: 06 Aug 2011 11:11 PM PDT

Battery is one of the most important thing in a laptop, so it is very important to keep tabs on it. It is quite annoying when you can't figure out how long will your battery last -- especially when doing some important work. So in order to save you from this annoyance we have a list 5 great Battery monitoring software that will let you monitor your laptop's battery level. Check them out:

You  can also enjoy our other collection : Windows Password Recovery Tools, Video Editing Tools etc

BatteryBar is one of the most used and famous battery monitoring tool out there. It is a very minimal app that every laptop/netbook user should have. BatteryBar appears on the taskbar and displays one of the two states:

  • Discharge – displays the amount of time the laptop can run on the battery
  • Charging – displays the amount of time to completely charge your laptop

You can also see the battery level in percentage instead of time if you want just by clicking on the meter. You can get the detailed info about the battery too by simply hovering mouse over the meter.

The benefit of having the meter on your taskbar is that you can constantly keep tabs on the bettery.

You can also upgrade to the paid version which gives you more features like custom themes, critical notifications and allows you to change the Windows Power Scheme. The paid version has a one-time price of $10.

Vista Battery Saver is a simple tool that helps you save battery discharging by disabling the Aero effects. Apparently, this tool has the ability to save battery up to 70%.

You can specify a certain battery level below which cool Aero effects will be disabled. You can also specify certain points for other things like changing Windows power schemes, or turning Aero effects when the laptop is on AC power.

Running it on start up makes sure that your battery is being saved to a certain level. It runs on all versions of Windows Vista and Windows Home Premium that have support for Aero.

As the name suggests Battery Alarm plays a sound when the battery level comes to a particular point. By default that particular point is 5%, but it can be changed to whatever point you desire.

One more great feature is that the battery will also play a sound when the battery has completely charged i.e 100%. You can configure the repeat time of the sound and also the sound too.

It is quite useful when you are playing a movie or game and can't keep tabs on battery.

Power Meter Plus is a very useful app that is just 135 KB in size. It is a small bar that you can set to be on your screen.

When this app runs, a meter is shown on your screen. It is fully prominent when your battery level is low and transparent when the battery level is high i.e fully charged.

It is a very useful tool. The best part is that it automatically changes its position to be in the part of the screen you are not using and to not to interfare in your work.

The name says it all -- Turn off LCD turns off your LCD when you want to. It proves to be quite useful when you are playing playback music or something else that doesn't need your LCD to be turned on. Turn your laptop's LCD even when the lid is open. This can prove to be an amazing way to save battery.

Now you don't need to worry that your notebook will turn off in the middle of a download when you leave it for some work.
