Hiding files and folders in Mac is very tough, unlike other operating systems. For example, in Windows one can easily hide folders and files from Folders and Files Property dialog given that Show hidden files, folders and drives option is disabled in Folder Options. While on the other hand, Mac users need to bring up Terminal window every time to hide files and folders and also to display the hidden ones.

If you want to hide files and folders easily, then use Hide Folders. It hides folders and files without requiring to open Mac Terminal to hide folder by other methods.

Hide Folders hides files and folders just in a single click. The usage of this tool is very straightforward. All you have to do is to drop the files you wish to hide, choose any of them and click Hide to make it completely invisible.

From Settings drop-down menu, you can go to the Hide View Options, display info of chosen item in list, open and show chosen items and add more files and folders to hide them.

Likewise, if you want to show the hidden folder or files, select folder and click Show to reveal it at source path. Hide Folders' free version does the task of hiding and showing your private files and folders but does not let you set a password to access it.

The Require Password with various other sophisticated features are available in paid version, which is priced at $21.95. It runs on both Mac Snow Leopard and Lion.
