Windows has built-in drivers that work best for 90% of DVD/CD drives
and burners. If you are sure it is a DVD rom or ram drive then I
would say the eye is faulting out if you cannot read ANY dvds.

See if you can get your hands on another DVD drive and swap out and
see if that helps at all.
