It has been a highly anticipated version of Windows that is expected to boast a lot of new and amazing changes and features. It has many features that every geek would love but still I am not sure if every single feature of Windows 8 will be appealing to the average user out there but still they all are worth mentioning. Windows 8 is a more of a tablet-centric OS. Anyway, without wasting any more time, I'll talk about the most prominent new changes that you are going to see in Windows 8. So here is a list of 10 awesome new changes and features that Windows 8 will boast, check them out and tell us which ones do you like and which ones you don't: Metro style User Interface After you are done with the installation of Windows 8, the first difference you will notice is the all new Metro Style user interface. The simple conventional startup menu is going to be replaced by a great looking and interactive wall with all your apps placed on it. But of course, you also have the choice of going to your normal desktop view by clicking on the desktop title on the Metro UI. All New Windows Explorer After launching your Windows explorer you will see the ribbon interface. If have basic knowledge of Office 2007 or 2010, then you must know what a ribbon interface is. This new ribbon menu will bring all the file operation commands that are used oftentimes by you right in front of you, so the next time you wish to make a folder you don't have to use the right click context menu, simply clicking on the right button on the ribbon will do the task and you can continue with your work. Internet Explorer 10 Windows 8 will boast Internet Explorer 10. Microsoft has promised it to be improved with ameliorated speed and flawless security and a HTML5 support. If you like using Internet Explorer, then don't forget to tell us about your experience of using the new Internet Explorer. Better File Operations Windows 8 will have improved file operations. The three basic aspects that are going to change in file operations are: 1. Lining up of multiple files when you are copying with more control. You will also have the ability of pausing and resuming each file being copied or moved. You can also see the source or destination folder when the process is running. 2. Windows 8 will boast an enhanced real-time information on the time a file will take to be copied -- not like those inaccurate clocks of the previous Windows. You can also view the operational graphs, transfer speeds too. 3. Windows 8 will present an ameliorated way of handling files conflict while copying. Faster Hybrid Boot One of the most radical changes in Windows 8 will be the Hybrid Boot support. This feature is going to combine the shutdown and hibernate process of previous version of Windows thus booting Windows in 8-10 seconds on supported machines. New Task Manager Windows 8 will also have an improved Task Manager. It will have two types of views, simple and advanced. In simple view you will get to the list of running apps and an end task button to simply kill a running task. You can always switch to the advanced view if you wish to get an in-depth information about all the processes running on your system. Windows Store Microsoft has confirmed that a Windows Store will be launched along with Windows 8 Developer Preview. Just like Apple's Mac store, you will have the ability to purchase or download Metro Style Apps for Windows 8. The Windows Store has not yet been launched, so we cannot say anything about it, but still it seems to be quite nice. Easy Factory Restore How many times it has happened to you that you something wrong with your Windows, and then it started having problems while running? A lot of times, I guess. In all the previous versions of Windows you had to go through a lot of hassle to fix that problem, but now with Windows 8 it will be easier than ever -- thanks to the recovery options called Refresh and Reset. You can restore your windows to a state just after it was installed by using both these options. The former one keeps the user files and settings intact but the latter gives you a totally clean Windows to start again. So in short you will no longer need to format your computer again and again because Windows just got a little smarter. Windows Live ID Integration With Windows 8 you now have the ability to move to clouds. This new feature allows you to integrate your local account with Windows Live ID account and then synchronize your data online. This is a really amazing feature as it makes sure that all your data will be safe and secure, even when your system crashes or you lose your device. USB 3.0 Support Windows 8 is going to support USB 3.0 and so the whole machine with necessary hardware will now be able to have a faster copy/move operations. ARM CPU Support With Windows 8 Microsoft is going to support ARM processors aside from Intel architecture. These are not all, Windows 8 boasts many more awesome features. If you wish to try them you can download and install the developer preview as a virtual machine using Virtual Box. |
