If that app does not have an auto-update feature, then you'll have to update it manually. In such cases an app named AppFresh can help you. It is a Mac App update manager, which maintains all installed apps, System Preferences plugins, widgets, etc. up to date. It automatically installs updates for apps, System Preferences plugins and desktop widgets etc. With AppFresh installed, you will not be required to manually find the updates for each app. Simply launch the tool to list down all the installed apps and download updates for every single of them. The apps are categorizes into Status groups such as Update Available, Up To Date, Unknown, Types such as Applications, Mac App Store applications, Plugins, Preferences Panes, System Updates, Vendors such as Apple, Microsoft, Adobe etc., and Third-party. This thing gives you the ability of finding updates for apps easily. Updated apps, widgets, Preferences panes, etc. will be shown in the Up To Date category. It is similar to Update Available category, it displays the newest launched version, status description with every single up-to-date app. The toolbar can be used for checking chosen apps for latest updates, deleting the item from the list, and updating the chosen app to newest stable launch.
