[computer-tech-support: 8330] Delay before bootup

Recently I have had delays of 2mins and more between switching on and
my PC starting to boot (no sound or anything ) Has anyone any ideas
please? The computer is several years old. I wonder if there some kind
of delay mechanism that is not working properly?.
