Posted: 24 Nov 2011 07:17 AM PST

Firefox was once the most famous and widely used browser but we saw its popularity evanescing slowly over the past few years, thanks to all the other browsers. Now that Firefox 8 is out, I think we should all give it another chance. It is obviously has its flaws, but all the other browsers out there aren't too perfect too.

So today we have a list of 5 great add-ons, which you can always use to get the best out of your Firefox 8. Check out the list!

5 Add-ons To Turn Firefox 8 Into An Amazing Browser

Mar Mod is a great add-on that will really enhance your Firefox 8. After you start using it, you feel the difference right away. Its menu has a "Restart" option, and a new "Addons" menu too that allows accessing individual add-ons quickly and easily. It also boasts an online translator, simply select your language and translate any text you wish only by two clicks. It also has many other awesome features too, such as the ability to navigate to the context menu, to change your icon set and control favicons, to add download file size. It also provides backups too. It is definitely a must have add-on.

If you often need to restart Firefox then get this add-on. This one is a light add-on that adds a great new feature, and that is the option to restart. It is not only added to the Firefox menu, but you are also given the ability to set a hotkey. In short, restarting Firefox without even using the mouse is now possible. This feature can prove to be really helpful if you tend to install and uninstall many add-ons. The best part is that it doesn't require a restart itself!

This add-on allows creating custom speed-dial page. You can put sites that you visit often and then use them as clickable bookmarks complete with folders. Adding a Google search widget to your page is also possible. This add-on lets you add thumbnails of the website, adding a custom photo to the thumbnail to make icons is also possible. Folders are the links to other "Desktops" and you can create more custom widgets. This is a unique add-on but it has its flaws -- for instance, there is no way of naming your folders. But on the whole, Desktop is a useful add-on.

FindBar Tweak is a great add-on that makes searching webpages a breeze. Firefox's native find option is not that good, so using this add-on is very logical, as it makes searching webpages a lot easier.

This add-on gives you the ability of tweaking the find bar to open and close on Ctrl+F. If you wish, moving it to the top of the page and changing the button layout is practicable. You can also set the options for how highlights should look like. Selecting colors, choosing if all the matching words should be highlighted or not, and adding a highlights grid to the scrollbar is possible. This tiny add-on completes the Firefox's Find.

If you have a problem of opening too many tabs at the same time, then this is a must have add-on for you. It will take care of all the extra tabs, as you can define a maximum number of tabs that can be opened at a time. Then this add-on will automatically close the unused tabs. I know it sounds a bit disagreeable, but don't worry: It can be tweaked. You have the ability of setting specific options, for instance, you can determine the websites that should never be automatically closed and specify to never close tabs that you have not viewed yet. You can set it to number the tabs and classify your tabs according to the most recently viewed.

Conclusion:

Firefox 8 is actually quite good: Its loading times have been ameliorated, and it's responsive. Good add-ons can enhance the user experience a lot and it can become really awesome.
