If you have your ip's right and have the right gateway, compared to the other comp, then you might want to check out your wireless adapter.

check if drivers need to be re-installed or if it is faulty.

The adapters show up everywhere EXCEPT command prompt.
Control Panel shows both adapters, as well as Device Manager (and as i
said before, there are no error messages anywhere)

I've neer had this happen before, it is quite confusing and
irritating.
